Raffles Milano

X SENCO

Gold & Diamonds

During last year’s 72h Design Challenge, Raffles Milano students had the opportunity to collaborate with one of India’s most iconic jewellery houses — Senco Gold & Diamonds — to create two original jewellery collections that celebrated the meeting of cultures, creativity, and craftsmanship. Over the course of just 72 hours, our students worked intensively to respond to Senco’s creative brief: to design contemporary jewellery that harmonizes Indian heritage with Italian elegance and European minimalism. The result was a stunning fusion of tradition and innovation — a testament to the power of design to transcend borders. Under Senco’s guidance, students developed two distinct collections — Senco Collection and Everlite Collection — each reflecting a unique interpretation of cultural symbolism and modern aesthetics. The Senco Collection drew inspiration from Lord Ganesha, the messenger of prosperity and wisdom. The students reimagined the sacred iconography of Ganesha — particularly the almond shape found in his crown and eyes — into elegant motifs rendered in 22k yellow gold, emerald, and diamond. The result was a collection that embodies prosperity, strength, and enlightenment through timeless design. The Everlite Collection, on the other hand, explored the sacred sound of Om (ॐ) and the visual beauty of Cymatics — the art of making sound visible through vibration patterns. This concept inspired sculptural pieces in 22k yellow gold adorned with jasper and malachite, symbolizing harmony, balance, and universal connection. Over the three days of the challenge, the students from diverse backgrounds collaborated in a fast-paced creative environment to create a final collections that showcased not only technical precision and design sensitivity but also a deeper understanding of how jewellery can become a language of cultural dialogue. This collaboration between Senco Gold & Diamonds and Raffles Milano stands as a example of how industry and education can come together to create real impact. By bridging the worlds of traditional Indian craftsmanship and contemporary European design, the project offered students invaluable exposure to the realities of working with an international luxury brand — while also offering Senco a glimpse into the fresh perspectives of the next generation of designers.
