This course offers a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of photography, videography and editing. It starts with an introduction to the language of photography and video, exploring concepts such as diaphragm, depth of field and image composition. Next, we delve into the language of film, with a focus on style development, direction and sound design. The last part of the course focuses on editing, including editing techniques, handling colour correction and using tools such as DaVinci Resolve. Practical exercises on editing and colour grading complete the course.
Lorenzo Colombo began his career as a videomaker in Italy, collaborating with a web TV channel and various motorcycle magazines. He then moved to London, where he attended a course in special effects for cinema and worked for two years as a freelancer, gaining experience in the world of fashion.
Back in Italy, he joined Hearst Digital and, as Head of Video Hub, coordinated the production of video and photographic content in the fashion, beauty, and lifestyle sectors, working closely with producers and project managers.
He continued his career by joining a company dedicated to event and live production to develop the video department: he was responsible for the direction and creative direction of films related to architecture, design, and product videos, including those for Ducati. In 2020, he founded Pirate Penguins Video, a cross-disciplinary production company that creates dynamic content, both filmed and entirely in 3D. They collaborate regularly with Hearst and, over time, have also expanded into Switzerland, where they direct live streaming events. Among their most innovative projects are full 3D commercials for clients such as Altromercato and Trenitalia.
